You may have noticed that the repeater has a new voice!

Yesterday morning, Pete and I replaced the Kenwood backup repeater with
the Motorola MSR 2000 with the CAT-300 controller. Several differences,
other than the voice ID, are improved receiver sensitivity and higher
power output (70 watts vs 25 for the Kenwood). It is a 100 watt
repeater, but we have throttled the power back to 70 to improve the
longevity of the power amplifier transistors.

Initial checks indicate that it is working well, Grant W4GMF got into it
with an HT from his living room in NNVA. Please let me know your
observations on coverage, etc.

Bells and whistles to follow and we will let everyone know the user
codes for certain functions. One function will be the ability to disable
the timeout timer, so you don't have to go through the sillyness of
dropping the PTT to "Get another nickle", during nets and emergency use.
FYI, the timer resets when you hear the courtesy tone, you need to let
the repeater go completely off the air to reset it.

73 from Tom and Pete
