Subject: Need a little WinLink help
Dear SMCARA Members,
I'm looking for someone who can help me with some digital (Packet I think)
questions. I have downloaded WinLink and RMS Express in an effort to learn
how to use Packet and send emails over the radio. I used WinLink and
successfully composed and sent as well as received email using the Telnet
Winlink option. I built a TNC-X kit and tested it using their test program.
It seems to work fine. However, when I connect it to my Kenwood V71A and
try to connect with a station, I do not seem to be able to connect and show
no signs of transmitting. I have configured the data band on the radio to
channel A transmit and receive (where I set the FBO frequency of 145.750),
set the terminal speed to 1200 bps, and port speed to 9600 and the squelch
output activation is "busy and transmit" I am using a factory wired cable
to connect the TNC to the radio. I was told that KB3FWW is the local
station to use (145.750) which shows active on the WinLink listing, but I
neither receive nor can I connect with this station. I have tried to do a
session using "Direct" and the call sign KB3FWW and KB3FWW-10 with no
success.
Can anybody help me understand what I may be doing wrong? Thanks
Best 73's, W3GME
Gary
