Hi Jason,

As a "Boatanchor aficionado, I heartily endorse your proposal.

Pete, WA3UMY and I have done a BA program at the club meetings (not recently) and would be happy to do so again. Well, I suppose you should ask Pete, rather than me obligating him!

We also did an AM Night, when we brought in our Gonset Communicators, aka Gooney Boxes, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonset_Communicator ) and Heathkit 2m "Lunchboxes" and showed what 2m AM activity was like "way back when".

Sea Story (yep, I have a bunch of them!):

Back around 1970 or so, having just arrived at Pax River, I was living in the BOQ (Bachelors Officers Quarters) on base. One night on a whim, I fired up my Heathkit
2m "Lunchbox https://sites.google.com/site/g3xbmqrp3/vuhf/lunchbox and called CQ. I seem to remember 144.35 as being the AM common frequency of the day (the 52 simplex of the day, so to speak).

Very much to my surprise, W3PQT comes back to me with a really strong signal. Well, it turns out that W3PQT was the base ham club located in a Quonset Hut behind the post office on Cedar Point Rd and
Pete WA3UMY was the operator. The rig was a surplus (really a Boatanchor- 100s of pounds of metal and about 6 feet tall!) TDQ http://www.ebay.com/itm/262249946449 transmitter putting out 100 watts or so and a 2m converter into an HF receiver
of some sort. Pete invited me to come down to the "shack" and meet him. Such was the beginning of a long friendship. There was this new thing called FM that was becoming popular on 2 meters and we
decided to build a repeater. But, that's another story!

Subject: [Non-DoD Source] [SMCARA] Boat Anchors at Field Day??

I am wondering if anyone would be interested in bringing some old Boat Anchor Radios out to Field Day? This could be just for show or to demo if you like?

Secondly, who would be interested in seeing some old tube rigs and such at Field Day????

Thanks for you inputs
