Folks:
I have a whole bunch of short but quite thorough Home Study Courses dealing
with electrical/electronic subjects that a tech magazine (Measurement and
Data) ran many years ago.
Each topic has a multi-choice exam at the end (w/ the answer box elsewhere
in the course).
Excellent material for ETs and especially EE-students and curious minds:
goes much deeper than the ARRL handbook material on similar topics.
Home Study courses:
Engineering Math - Statics: Number Systems and Counting; Logarithms -
Exponents; Vectors and Phase
The Mathematics of Dynamics: Curves, Rate of Change, Time Constants,
Derivatives, LaPlace Transformation
Logic (Boolean Math)
Voltage/Current Relations - Mostly DC - series/parallel circuits; electrical
movements - excellent info on meter movements
Measurements: biomedical/Temperature/Pressure/Flow
Measurements: Units, Standards, and References
Sine Waves and AC Measurements
C, L, and Impedance
R-L-C Coupling and Resonant Circuits
Transistors and Tubes - basics
Oscillators and Signal Generators
Power and Reference Supplies
Computer Programming Series - 1970s stuff: Assembly
Language/Hardware/Fortran/ Input-Output/Applications/Memory/Data Formats
etc.
Magnetic Measurements - Material and Shielding
Radioactive - 2-part
Electrical Safety - 5-part, plus Radiation Safety
Radiologic Safety - 2-part
Viscosity - 2-part
Moisture and Humidity - 3-part
Low-Level Measurements: Noise/Shielding - Magnetic, Electrostatic/Shields &
Ground Loops/The Input Circuit/Electrometers/Chopper Amps/Lock-in & Carrier
Amps/Op amps - 3-part
Active and Passive Filters - several part series: Filter Basics/Passive LC
Design/Active Filter Design/Component Selection and Test Procedures for LC
Filters
Whole pile for $15.
Please contact me if I should bring it w/ me to Thur. meeting.
