Hi All,

Even though my dog's water dish outside is frozen solid and I had to warm-up
my car this morning to get the frost off the windows, I know that Spring is
just around the corner. It won't be long before baby rabbits are munching
on the new stems in Tammy's flower garden, baby squirrels will fill the big
tree in my yard, robins will be flying throughout our county, and marathon
runners will be returning to Piney Point at a ridiculously early morning
hour to run 26.2 miles.

SMCARA has provided communications support for this event for a long time
and we've been asked to support again. The past several years I've been
"Director of Course Operations," providing support while Motorcycle Mobile.
As in years past, I'd like to ask for 10-12 volunteers. We'll be
co-locating with the water stations, the start/finish line, and other
critical locations. And at the end of the day, you'll get a buffet (high
carb) meal, a T-shirt, and the gratitude of the runners (at least those we
don't DQ). Who could ask for anything more..

Here's the skinny:

Date: Sunday, March 13th

Time: 6:30AM to Noon-ish (remember to set your clocks ahead an hour the
night before)

Where: Meet at the Paul Hall in Piney Point:
https://www.seafarers.org/paulhallcenter/phc.asp (If you go over the bridge,
you've gone too far).

What you'll need: (in order of importance)

A 2-meter radio, preferably an HT, but mobile will work as well. We expect
to use the club repeater - 146.640 MHz (-) PL 146.2 (Located in Lexington
Park, MD).

Club Tee-Shirt

Safety Vest

Folding Chair

If you'd like to help, send me an e-mail and I'll start to compile a list.
