A big Thanks to KD3CQ, KB3WEY, W3GYT and KA3WAP for offering to help me with a mic test for my IC-7000. Steve, KA3WAP was the first to contact me and I set up a meet with him yesterday. The test was quick, he brought his HM-103 mic outside to my car, with the IC-7000 connected to a mobile PS and a mag mount 2M antenna (my problem developed while operating 20M, but was consistent across all bands). A moment later, the IC-7000 keyed up in transmit and operated fine with Steve's mic. I’m so glad I tested this, my mic was bad, not the radio … and this will save a lot in terms of not packing up the radio for a service call to ICOM. To make SMCARA really shine … Steve offered me his HM-103 (his backup mic) until I procured one, so that I could keep active on the air. Thanks Steve !
Now I’m in the market for an HM-151 mic, preferable AB5N modified, but no big deal there … or an HM-103, HM-118 or HM-154. If anyone has one laying around for sale, let me know. A BIG thanks to SCMARA for making this Wyoming ham stand up and take notice of a ham radio club with a lot of very friendly hams. Many thanks. K7EDA -Jeff
