After much frustration searching the FCC for the means to print a copy of my
"Official FCC License", I am turning to those of you who might have already
run these wickets.

It is easy find my information in the FCC database and print a copy with a
"Reference Copy" sash across it but that document says at the top ...this
document may not be used in place of an official FCC license. But at the
side of this reference copy it says "This is your radio authorization in
sizes suitable for your wallet and for framing. Carefully cut the documents
along the lines as indicated and sign immediately upon receipt. They are
not valid until signed.

The Maryland MVA application Form VR-164 (09-15) says under the instruction
category of Amateur Radio Operator Registration Plates, para 2. "A valid
copy of your FCC Amateur Radio Operator's license and a copy of your
registration card must acccompany the application. I think the the
registration card to be the MVA one that everyone carry's in the glove box
so I will not confuse that as being another FCC doc.

I have to wonder now if the reference copy becomes an official copy when you
sign it however, the document as printed out is by no means what I would
consider suitable for framing although it clearly is just that as indicated
by the "cut along this line" instruction.

Maybe I am making too much of it and that I should just snip it out, sign it
and cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Any advice much appreciated, KC3WJA, Jim Wieldt
