Hi Jim,

I suspect that the speaker is universal, just a matter of the correct connector.  The VOX-3 is an add-on for the early rigs that did not have VOX built in.  My guess is that it would be redundant on the 440S.

I am sure that there is a Yahoo Group for Kenwood.  Just go to Yahoo Groups and search.  I subscribe to the Icom and Elecraft Groups, so there is sure to be at least a general Kenwood group.

I came across  a TS-700A (2m multimode base) and a couple of items were included along with it.  They were a Kenwood SP-70 speaker and a Kenwood
VOX-3.    Can anyone tell me if these are universal to any and all of the
"older" HF receivers?    I am not a "plug and pray" guy that sparks don't
fly.   I would like to use them with a TS-440S.   Better yet, is there a
website where Kenwood information flows like soda pop from the big rock candy mountain.
