</div>Hi all,
Since I am the repeater trustee I wanted to say a few words about its
acceptable usage if I may. First off, there is not going to be anything
written beyond what is in this email. And I hope we do not have to have
anything written so with that.
1. Use it!
Please feel free to use it, It's an open repeater and available for use so
check in, say hi, listen and help others as needed.
2. Be respectful.
We may have had a problem years ago but I have heard no issues lately. No
80M style "Ethanol nets" please. keep partisan issues to a minimum and be
respectful of others. NUF SAID.
3. Nets/Special events/Emergencies.
Until ARES/RACES has there own system up, this is the primary repeater for
the county and if any of those agencies need to take control for
testing/training/real event, they have explicit permission to take control
of the repeater for the event and all regular amateur use is MINIMIZED
until its completed or the emergency is passed and the repeater is returned
to normal amateur use. Again, if ARES/RACES is Net Control Station (NCS),
all other routine amateur use is minimized. I've Never seen a problem
before but now its out there.
Scheduled nets: The Tuesday evening net has priority until there is no
longer a net so close yout your conversation prior to net start. The only
exception is ARES/RACES/Declared emergency.
Special events: If you are doing an event and are going to need priority
use of the repeater please Mr/Ms event coordinator, send me an email of the
date/time/event. Your answer is going to be 99.99% yes (Remember
ARES/RACES exceptions) but just let me know so I can make sure there are no
conflicts. When there is a special event on, the repeater usage is under
control of the Event NCS so regular amateur traffic is minimized until
he/she returns it to regular amateur use.
Another note about emergencies. Remember folks, the words
BREAK/HELP/QRRR/MAYDAY/SOS are NOT USED unless there is a specific need and
if you have that need wait for an opening, say your callsign and the
pro-word THREE TIMES (W3BNY BREAK-BREAK BREAK). you have the repeater and
all amateurs assist as appropriate (preferably the NCS).
4. Technical issues or Inappropriate usage:
If the repeater goes nuts/locks up/whatever, please say something on either
here on the reflector or call someone so we can get it at the least shut
down.
If there is inappropriate usage or a user abusing others or just
being...obnoxious...Do not confront the offender. Take down or record
preferably as much of the issue as you can (date/time/callsign/what is
happening) and let me know. If its that egregious/flagrant/horrid CALL
ME! I'm in the book and I will see if immediate steps need to be taken
(shut down of the repeater).
That's it. I know we have rarely had any serious issues on this repeater
and I continue to hope that we do not during my tenure as the repeater
trustee.
73 and promise to say HI more often on the 64/Tuesday night net!
Rene W3BNY
