Good topic:
Take a look at the Kitchener - Waterloo Ontario club site ... I'll try to
find a link later. They did a great job of this. One day at work, a
visiting Canadian mentioned that his grandfather was a ham. Before I saw
him the next morning, I was able to find out that his grandfather had paid
his club dues for 1938 and that he helped with field day some year or other,
he was a recognized Elmer ...before the term was invented ...and much more!
I also found the address where he lived during that period ... a house that
my acquaintance remembered fondly.
I hope the guy from Canada remembers how much I enjoyed researching his
grandfather ... it was a blast ... and I could do it because the information
was there.

Great idea, Chris! We should make an effort to write a short report of each
year's activity for historical purposes. If everyone thinks about this, we
should be able to collect
a lot of tidbits of info on our SKs.
Garner Hayden, W3SI, SK----> Gene Talley for info
Warren Dean, SK------------> Gene Talley for info. Warren was retired Navy
and a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Al Barolet, KJ3E, SK
Walt Lefave, N3ILS, SK Dec 2012 Retired Naval Aviator and Captain for Gemini
Air Cargo
Ben Hurt, W4ILA, SK
Roger Chandler, N3???
Pete butt, WA3UMY may have some historical info on the club.

Good morning folks,
Remembering where you come from and honoring those who came before you has
always been important to me so I'd like to ask two favors of everyone...
First, I'd like to make an SK page on our website to honor and remember our
club's lost hams. If you know of any of our SK's and remember details like
name, call sign, year they passed, favorite aspect of amateur radio, have a
photo of them, etc., please email me. I've really appreciated the sense of
community that we have and hate to think that someone could be forgotten.
Second, our club has been around a long time! Unfortunately, us new-ish guys
know nothing of the club's history because it's never been put to paper (as
far as I know). I would really love to hear from everyone who's been around
a while about any tidbits of the club's history that you can share. What
year did something cool happen? When did we start our club station or start
using the museum? Where were we before that?
Who are our founding members? What year did we do (??)? Who did something
hilarious and when? Some of you will know more than others but don't think
that "someone else will email him" so the one thing you know isn't
important. I posed this question earlier in the year and had no takers. None
of us will live forever so please share what you know so that our next
generation of members can enjoy and benefit from the history.
Cheers & 73,
*Chris Ordiway - KC3DIG*
