Well Tom, the .64 is working just fine from my kitchen table with a 4 watt HT and a rubber ducky antenna.I talked to Chris KC3ERI this morning while eating breakfast and the .64 sounde back to its normal self from here.

The temporary repeater seems to be doing nicely. Kenwoods are known for good audio and this machine is no exception!
Keep in mind the repeater is physically about 5 miles south of the base, so don't expect to be "full quieting" into the repeater when you are using a rubber duck in your car or from the basement of your house! VHF, technically, is still "line of sight", so trees, houses, etc. will attenuate your signal. Next time you go to a Hamfest, buy one of those little "Hershey Kiss" mag-mount antennas- it will make a huge difference over the "rubber dummy load"!
I wonder if any of the Montross crowd (Jim?) have tried the machine? It may be a tad weaker as the TX is only putting out 25 watts instead of 60.
