[SMCARA] To Spice or not to Splice

Looking at something I read from DXZone on W3EDP 85 Foot End Fed and a
refined 84 foot version. Looking to see what if any improvements are
possible with going from my current 72 foot end fed to 84 foot. I have also
been reading and looking at "http://udel.edu/~mm/ham/randomWire/" lengths
and pulling in bands that I might not now be able ot get. I keep hearing
longer and higher is better. Anyways, an experiment on my part along with
swapping out my 4:1 with a 9:1 balun. So the spice would be when I bring my
antenna down for maintenance and replacing the support rope with parachute
cord, I thought I would try extending it out to some distance that I can do
in my space. I will definitely be using the Western Union Splice and heat
shrink after reviewing the splice online. I have 4 37 foot radials already
and after moving my current balun inside, I have about 40 feet of open coax
to the shack tied at the feedpoint.
