[SMCARA] To Spice or not to Splice

Hi Bill
You can splice an extra length onto a wire antenna with little to no electromagnetic affects. However, the splice will be a physically weak point, subject to failure. My recommendation would be to re-run the wire. If you do decide to splice, use a western union splice (Google it), which is the NASA standard for splices. For temporary splices, cover with electricians tape, for long term splices use a good quality shrink tubing. Also, be sure to use non-acidic flex while soldering.

If it ain't broke, let's fix it until it is...

Can you without without any loss extend a wired antenna? Or do you just
rerun new wire? And if so, do you just tape it and then liquid tape it to
maintain integrity? Thanks!
Bill
