Dave,If you have HF radio in your car you can just tune to the CB frequencies and listen to what is going on.Of course any up to date unmodified HF radio will not transmit on the CB frequencies, but you can listen to all of them.

Hope I don't loose my HAM license over this but....
I travel to St. Louis a couple of times a year. 95 -> 295 -> 64 into STL.
Fairly often there will be a back-up and will end up sitting in traffic for
several minutes or a couple of hours.
Never had my Icom 880 in my truck on a trip yet. So just wondering if
enough people/truckers have ham radios in their vehicles to find out what
is going on instead of just sitting there wondering. I hear truckers on
the repeaters occasionally but don't know how common they are with truckers.
Or would investing in a CB be worth it? Looking at a Midland 75-822 40
Channel handheld.
