[SMCARA] Safety First For Field Day Operations During Thunderstorm Conditions

All,

Please consider safety as the #1 issue for the weekend, not whether we can, or should, operate from the bingo hall.

Under the thunderstorm conditions that are forecast for the weekend,  I would expect the control operator operator to stop all radio operations from the tent and move everyone into a safe area, such as the Bingo Hall, during periods of rain and/or thunderstorm conditions.  I would consider resuming radio operations only when it is deemed by all that the thunderstorm conditions have cleared.  Under no circumstances would I consider bringing any antenna feedlines into the bingo hall as this building is a safe refuge as long as we don’t intentionally provide a path  for lightning, via antenna feedlines, etc. to enter the building.  

Providing a safe environment for our club members and visitors is our #1 priority – actual Field Day operations are a distant #2.
