[SMCARA] WX part 2.

I'm with Dan.  It is an exercise to provide comms under non-ideal conditions.  We don't need to take chances, but press on and decide real time.  Perhaps set up the GOTA and 6m station up inside, so we can carry on if we have to abandon the tent for a while.  Backup to the backup!

I've never been much for canceling a sortie based on forecast weather; launch and look at it real time (unless there is a "willy willy" covering the area).  Might have to secure ops for a while, but we would look pretty silly if we canx the operation and most of the day was sunny/partly cloudy/light precip.  Light rain without Thor's Hammer just makes it interesting! 

Most weather forecasts appear to be made by lawyers rather than meteorologists anymore!  I haven't seen anything less than a "severe thunderstorm warning with high winds and possible hail to 5 inches" issued to keep the liability lawyers at bay when a CB shows up on the radar!

Doesn't seem like there much else of a choice however if we set up in the bingo hall we cannot be 3 alpha anymore. Also with all the other stuff going on in the bingo hall testing food etc. It's gonna be real cramped. Plus we have tried it before the signals don't get out in th e bingo  hall we won't make many contacts if any at all. I know it's to late to cancel field day but this is really what we are facing. Plus the club wasted the money on the tent if we do the bingo hall. Idk where the club wants to stand on this but these are some things to think about. We may still be able to do outside and cover everything up when storms get bad. But again it's my 2 cents and the realities we face coming forward.73,KC3CCN Co- Field Day Coordinator

Anyone else seen tomorrows forecast yet?  Anyone...Bueller....Bueller...

I'll save you the trouble.  80% chance of rain/thunderstorms.  Some
severe.  WNEW has been calling for torrential downpours.   This may be one
of those times where the forecast may just dictate a setup in the bingo
hall.  so should we just implement "Plan B" and be done.

Thoughts?
