[SMCARA] Plan B

First, my apologies to David for not passing along his concerns.  I did go review the rules (for what it's worth) and found that the use of the bingo hall wouldn't make us ineligible as a class A station.   The requirement is that we setup in an area that isn't a permanent station location, or with permanent facilities for FD.  You can read the rules at www.arrl.org/field-day.

If it ain't broke,  let's fix it until it is...

All,
I have been asked by David Willenborg, N3UX, To forward his comment to this issue & I told him I would. I have already responded to him & invited him to join us for Field Day.
------------------------------------------
Ken,

I agree with the statement at the end of each of Tom Shelton's emails, " If it ain't broke, let's fix it until it is...".

Field Day has been held in the same location for over a decade, using a tent in all kinds of weather. If a storm comes you power down and seek a safe location until the storm passes. We have operated as 3A for many years and to run in that class (A) we could not use preexisting structures like buildings, or towers. That rule may have changed, but then again it may not have. The idea of the A class is to go out into the field and use emergency power only and set up your facilities to work from. It would be unfair to compete in a class that we do not follow the rules, and spirit of the competition. I called Tom Shelton, and left a message, and hoped that my two cents would be added to the debate but that did not happen. Maybe you could do so.

If you need an elected official to show up please let me know. I can find the time to stop in so you can get those points.

73,

David Willenborg N3UX "If you don't make changes, you will live your next five years the same as your last five have been"
