We immediately ceased our field day efforts, along with most of the clubs in and around LA county, and shifted to emcomm, passing messages in and out. One of our club members was a CHP officer who was called into work and was part of the team checking bridges for damage (and there were a few). The CHP radios were busy with other higher priority traffic, so he would contact us as each bridge was inspected, and we fed the info on HF to the CHP HD in Sacramento. It took a few hours for everything to settle down, then we got back to FD. Fortunately, it wasn't raining.
