[SMCARA] My Thoughts for the next 2 years.

I plan on running for President at the July meeting.  That said, I thought
I'd share a few things I'd like to happen if I'm privileged enough to gain
your support and the position.

1).  The things that Dan and his executive committee have put in place over
the last 2 years will remain in effect with only a couple of changes.
First, Ham classes will continue - but the tech class will use the ARRL
manual instead of the W5YI one.  The ARRL tech manual comes with
presentation slides and an instructors book and I think it does a better
job.  Second, I'd take a look at the October Ham Fest and see if there are
any tweaks that could be made.

2).  My main focus will be on community service.  I would approach local
community service organizations (Lions, Elks, etc.), get on their speakers
list, and solicit donations that would be used to fund go-box type UHF/VHF
set-ups for emergency support (like we did during the last couple of
hurricanes).  If funding is sufficient, I'd like to be able to provide
several low-cost rigs and basic antennas for temporary loan to club members
(I'm thinking the IC-718 and OCF dipoles).  

3).  I'd like to tweak the weekly club net - with input from the club.  

4).  I'll also push for more ARRL membership by recognizing new ARRL members
at club meetings.

5).  I plan on inviting Fred Laun (K3ZO), the 3rd call area incoming QSL
bureau manager, to speak at one of our meetings and will set up an outgoing
QSL service (an ARRL benefit) for club members.  Bring your outgoing QSL
cards to the meeting and we'll take care of getting them to the outgoing
bureau.  

6).  As I don't want to have too many irons in the fire, if elected I'll
give up my position as the PVRC chapter director, though I will remain an
active PVRC member and contester.

Please note that these are thoughts off the top of my head.  I'll always be
open to suggestions (though I may ask the one making the suggestion to head
up the effort).

To do this, I'll need a good executive committee.  I've already got a few
ideas for who could fill these positions, but I won't throw them under the
bus here.  I will be approaching a few people during Field Day.
