I read some comments on the article.  Some folks attached the tiger tail to the screws holding the belt connection.   Check continuity between the attachment screw and the antenna first.

I've only know Wes (N3WZU) for a year and he has been telling everyone about his "tiger tail" for at least that long.  He could have written that article.
