All,

I looked at the machine on Friday and didn't find any obvious problems. Originally we had an external preamp to help offset line loss and the duplexer losses. When we were having an interference issue, we removed the pre-amp, so that was not the problem. I tightened up a couple of loose coax connectors to no avail.

This particular GE receiver has what is called a "UHS" module, which is essentially a preamp built into the receiver itself. That seems to be the next logical thing to check. Since my two 5 year old grandchildren showed up Saturday for a week's visit, I did not get up into the attic to see if I have a spare! I will do that this afternoon. Since the air conditioner in the shelter is working well, I don't suspect a temperature caused detuning to be the problem (i.e., will conduct no "random tweaking" with the magic screwdriver/tuning tool to see if we can fix it!) I refer you to the signature line on Tom, ND3N's email messages!

FYI a liberal application of penetrating oil and some silicone lubricant has made the door lock operable again!

For tonight's net, I would suggest starting out on 64 and QSYing to 443.05. Be sure to keep an ear on 64 to direct folks over to Pete's machine.
