[SMCARA] HVFD carnival support

A general reminder:  one of the main reasons we get to keep and use our frequencies is because we provide our time, equipment,  and skills to support community events like the carnival.  These frequencies are constantly in jeopardy as there are multiple corporations and organizations that would pay the government for a license to use them.  As an example, several years ago, a portion of the 1.25 meter band was taken away from us and given to a consortium headed by UPS for about $6 billion.  To date, the reallocated frequencies have not been put to use and the FCC is issuing licenses for that band by lottery.

A more specific reminder:  the HVFD and the SMCARA have had a long history together.  While they charge other groups for the use of the bingo hall, they have always let us use it for free.  Current budgets may change this, but as a thank you for past usage and a goodwill gesture towards the future, we should overwhelm them with volunteers.  It's only 2 hours of your time that they're asking for.  Please contact Dan and let him know when you can help.
