A little late, but some update on the station at the Museum. Last Friday, we finished moving the station into the entrance hall of the museum and got it working. All the "heavy lifting" was done on the Saturday work party, so I missed that exercise!

Currently the station is operational on one antenna (the dipole), which is broad-banded, so the tuner is not required. The original tuner failed at some point and is out for repair. A "loaner" is in the console but turned off. Basically, fire up the IC-746 and talk. By the way the internal tuner in the IC-746 has also failed, so don't hit the TUNE button. It will need to be shipped off to Icom for some TLC.

I hope to get the beam hooked up this weekend and we will be back in business with both antennas. In accordance with Murphy's Law, the coax from the Yagi was 20 feet or so too short to reach the console!

The GAP vertical that used to live in the woods is not up anymore. It got zapped by some rampaging deer running along the fence line and is awaiting parts and re-assembly at K3NAL. I prefer to work on antennas when the OAT (Outside Air Temp) exceeds my age!
