 Discussion One of the topics brought up at our August 2015 SMCARAmeeting, by our new President, Richard “Boz” N1LID, was the problem of gatheringenough members together to conduct club business. i.e.  Spend money out of the club’s treasury. Anexample was the last attempt where not enough members were in attendance toconstitute a quorum.  The topic at handwas to establish a committee to list all Club assets.  A quorum, is as I remember as written in ourbylaws, requires two club officers and 20 members to be present. A member isone who has paid their club dues for the year. At the meeting referenced, some of those conditions for conducting Clubbusiness were not met. At our club meeting last night, we had approximately 20attendees, not all were members of SMCARA. With dwindling attendance in ourclub meetings, it is appropriate to consider changing the By-laws.  Usually our meetings have approximately 15 to20 members in attendance and three to four officers present. By- laws change options for a quorum could include: 10 members and two officersFive members and two officersOther combinations of officers and membersUnilateral decision by president and treasureretc.
 In order to make any changes in the present By-laws, the oldquorum requirements would need to be met. Please email me with your recommendations and use our reflector as a forum fordiscussion .
