I like Tom's idea!  I built a 40M MFJ Cub back years ago.  I had a blast 
with it, and it really upped my CW speed!  I is very rewarding to get on the 
air and make contacts on something that you built!

At $12 bux this could be a fun project and then get a local CW net going on 
40, so everyone can learn/improve/play CW.  Some folks have even embellished 
them with an Arduino based VFO, etc.
