Absolutely! Return on a raffle is much better and less risky.
Most folks are willing to pay a few bux for a chance (look how successful the lottery is in separating folks from their cash!), rather than getting into a bidding war. Participation is the name of the game. Simpler to manage as well.

I think we are using the wrong term here. I am out of town and may not have gotten all of this traffic but the word "auction" doesn't sound right to me.
We would make more money if we used the term raffle as we just did with the FT-2900 and more than doubled the cost of the radio in ticket sales.
People go to a tailgate fest to find bargains and I doubt you could make back the cost of the radio with an auction. If the bids got to the point where it would be the same cost or cheaper for me to go to HRO and get the same radio myself then I would.
Just my two cents.
