[SMCARA] All Please Read - Rookie Roundup

Thanks for recommending the club station. I thought about including it in
my original message, but didn't want people to flock to the museum and end
up having to share the rig. I also believe the museum closes at 5 (maybe
earlier on Sundays?), giving only 3 hours to operate. That said, if someone
wants to be a coach at the museum and take on one or two new technicians,
that would be great.

So far, Allen Landmann has volunteered his station. Waiting to hear from
more people willing to host.

Don't forget the club station at the museum. 100 Watts into a Yagi will work
well.
BYO computer for logging as the current one is inop, or use pencil and
paper.
Check the white binder for the gouge on operating the rig.

I'll be out of town or I would be glad to help.

April 19th (Sunday) from 1800Z to 2359Z (2PM to 8PM local) is the ARRL
Rookie Round-up http://www.arrl.org/rookie-roundup

I'm looking for anyone who would be willing to lend your station and
experience to our newly licensed technicians. Jason, N3YUG, is opening his
station to two newbies (and he is the inspiration for this).

If you have some time on that Sunday afternoon, have a HF-SSB 10 Meter
capability, and can help coach a technician at your QTH, please let me know
and I'll put together a list of people. You'll need to help them set-up a
log (paper or computer), remind them of their frequency privileges, and help
them through a couple of contacts (see the ARRL link above). Ideally, I'd
like to see every experienced Ham in our club hooked up with every newly
licensed tech (but I know that's unrealistic).

For paper logs, I'll help with putting together a Cabrillo file. For a
computerized log - I'll help anyone that doesn't have a contest logger set
one up. You'll be expected to provide them a Cabrillo file and .ADI (both
generated by the logging program) at the end of the contest (they'll bring a
thumbdrive).

Expect them to show up around 1:00-ish to get familiar with your rig and
stay for at least a few hours (total time is up to you, even 2-3 hours would
be great).

Please reply to me with your station's availability (times) and I'll compile
a list of host stations - I'll be putting out something for the techs in a
few days (depending on how many host stations respond) and I'll hook the two
of you up.
