Bill,  Yes, you will need to plug in the FH-2 remote for DVS-6 functions. 
It is also used for CW memory keying, and for recording up to 15 seconds of 
others transmissions.

I have been using mine for the DVS-6 and it works great, just wish it had a 
few more memory banks.
