Bill,
It means that the squelch is "open" and the radio is not transmitting. Try cranking the squelch down and see if it goes away. It is a carryover from the commercial lineage of the Yaesu line. On Icoms it is "Recv" and on my K-3 it is a green LED.

Basically, if you have the volume down and the BUSY light is on, it is telling you to turn up the volume to check to make sure you will not "double" with someone if you grab the mike and start yakking!

On top left corner of the display by meter is an indicator "BUSY" normally until you key the Mic and it switches to "TX" I believe. What does "BUSY"
mean? I can find no reference in the manual on the Yeasu Site or the Web telling you what the radio is busy doing or what it means. Anybody have a clue? Maybe a small thing, but leaves me thinking about it. Like a song that is stuck in your head. Thanks
