[SMCARA] Happy Veterans' Day

I was in the Navy twice, but never saw combat ...  first time was as a
19/20-year old on the "Mighty Mo" (BB 63, battleship) on which the
Surrender had been signed ending WW II, but I had missed the War. We were
the first Task Force to return to England after the war, AND WHAT A TIME TO
BE AN AMERICAN! Everywhere we went ashore on liberty, people, simply
stopped us on the street, and thanked us. For me, it was embarrassing. I
would tell them I had not been in the war. --- "That's OK, Yank, thank
you." ... They were still under rationing. Yet, no where could we pay for
meals, or even buy tickets to the theater. For American Servicemen,
everything was "no-pay... free" WHAT A TIME TO BE AN AMERICAN!
   The second time was the Korean War, but I was in the Atlantic Fleet!
...  Ain't that life?   Thank God ---
