All,

Thank you Carlos for considering in helping with the Students! I too am filling out the application and am getting ready to go through the background check so that I may assist as well.

Let us not get lost in the sticker shock of $400 for the supplies especially if we handle it as Tom suggested yesterday. I am willing to commit $50.00 to the cause and if just 28 others donate 12.50 or say half the club pitches in $6.25 each then nothing will have to come out of the treasury.

This is an opportunity to serve in an area that yes may not be directly related to Amateur Radio but it is not so far off so that we couldn't share techniques that would be helpful in both worlds. The idea of using RF to control a remote system and possibly using RF to receive video or telemetry is part of Amateur Radio. Also while they may not be utilizing the frequencies set aside in the 6m band for remote control devices such as cars, airplanes or robots just yet we have those frequencies set aside for such applications and that is part of Amateur Radio.

As I shared at the meeting in July, I am looking for opportunities for us as a club to make ourselves known in the community through service but not just any service. I am looking for service opportunities that allows us as licensed radio operators and DIY tinkerers to demonstrate what we are capable of doing and not just during emergency situations. Through these service opportunities we may have a chance to grow the club. I have a personal goal to help the club reach 240 members before I can no longer serve as President. This is why I ask for feedback and ideas from the body of the club so that we can have presentations on what our members are interested in and if it interests our members then our members might invite their friends then their friends get hooked and our classes are now filled and we have now introduced new capabilities, talents and best of all friends to a awesome body of radio operators.

Thanks for your support and please HAVE FUN!

I hate to sound like the grinch but, how is the robotics club related to Ham radio?

I don't think this is a match to our club.

Good news? I may volunteer to help...

Carlos
