So long as it would be clear we can't sustain these items in the future.   In other words this is a one time event and we can't be the 'sponsor' for this.

</div>Yes, They are only asking for one kit. They have one now but they would really like to have one as a spare. As we all know things fail.

Subject: [SMCARA] Robotics Club

All,

As you know Jim Forest (KB1YZ) a long time club member and I consider a
longtime friend of mine heads up the robotics club at Leonardtown High
School. You might have seen a few of the members of that club at the
tailgate fest selling doughnuts and soda as a fund raiser. After some
discussion Jim has identified several needs that he thinks SMCARA can help
them out with.

First, Jim is looking for willing volunteers who have a Mechanical
background and those with a Software background to help out with the
Robotics club. If you are interested reply to Jim (jforest2002 at juno.com <mailto:jforest2002 at juno.com>
<mailto:jforest2002 at juno.com> ) or myself (kb3uun at gmail.com <mailto:kb3uun at gmail.com>
<mailto:kb3uun at gmail.com> ) and one of us will get you pointed in the right
direction. To be a volunteer there is an application that needs to be
completed and the school system does a background check before you can
actually volunteer.

Second, The Robotics club is in need of specific parts to aid them in their
venture. Jim has asked if the club would be willing to provide either the
needed gear or the funds to purchase the needed gear. Here is what they are
asking for:

The VEXnet System Bundle contains everything you need to get started
controlling a VEX robot using the VEX ARMR CortexR-based Microcontroller.

* (1) VEX ARMR CortexR-based Microcontroller
* (1) VEXnet Joystick
* (2) VEXnet Key 2.0
* (1) VEXnet Backup Battery Holder
* (1) USB A-A Cable

I will be bringing this up as new business at January's club meeting but I
wanted to present this to the club now. Please consider sponsoring the
robotics club and let's help them out where we can. I welcome any thoughts
on this matter and hope that in January we will be able to approve the funds
to make this donation.

Thanks again for your support and by all means HAVE FUN!
