I take it back… it looks like packet is also just VHF. The repeater setup is U/V though.

They must have fixed it because there are recent voice reports:

But it might be nice to set up for packet as well. Of course, then we'd need a UHF antenna as well as VHF.

If I'm not mistaking I believe that the radio or antenna for VHF UHF voice
on the ISS is damaged and there is no timeframe to replace/repair them :(

Packet might be your only option unless something has changed, voice
communication have been silent for almost 3 years,. Maybe you could slip
your friend a dual band radio Micah and he could get things back up and
running for us:)

Subject: [SMCARA] ISS contact?

I found out yesterday that I know someone who is now an astronaut and will
be going to the International Space Station at the end of the month (Reid
Wiseman, KF5LKT, he was a test pilot at Pax). Has anyone made contact with
the ISS and/or want to help me try? Anyone have a 2m circular polarized
directional antenna I can borrow for a while? Or maybe seen some DIY plans
for one?

Micah (N4CA)
