I needed a way to see what was happening in some code I was writing for a
processor because it just wasn't doing what I expected it to do. So from a
display from my Arduino parts collection, a variable resister, a 100 ohm
resister, a tmp36 temperature sensor and a PIC18F25K22 processor is born a
digital thermometer. It now serves it's true purpose but this was a quick
test.

Adding a shift register to control the display would free up additional IO
to add other sensors such as humidity sensor, wind speed sensor, and a rain
fall measurement sensor you now have a very inexpensive weather station.
Add a beagle bone black or a raspberry pi and now you have a network based
weather station that could be accessed via the web. Of course there is a
touch of software writing involved.
Have Fun!
