I like both ideas!
I think there are plenty of opportunities in the county to do
Special Events. There are Lighthouses, Historic sites, and many
other sites that would make for Amateur Radio Special Events.
Lighthouses are very collectable special events, and we have several
around the area. There is also weekend contests and dates already
setup for Light House Days. I believe it is the first week of Aug.
Historic, we have everything from the first Maryland settlers,
sheriffs department, to Civil War all the way to WW II sites here in
southern Maryland.
I would be willing to get together for contesting or special events.
Just my two cents.

So it has been suggested that we as a club should hold more events
like
Field Day where we operate as a group. I like the idea and am ready
to
support it. The only two things that would benefit from such a
gathering is
a contest or a special event (open to other reasons). So I am
curious does
the club station have the ability to do RTTY? How hard would it be
to set
it up? Might we use the setup process as a demonstration as to how
to get a
station to do digital modes?
I am the above questions because on the 19th is the North American
QSO
Party RTTY edition.
Details:
Name: North American QSO Party RTTY
Date: Jul 19, 1800Z - Jul 20, 0600Z
Freq: 3.5-28
Mode: DIGITAL
Exchange: Name and S/P/C (State/Province/Country)
Logs: ncjweb.com 7 days
First, can we get the station to do digital in time. I have a win 7
laptop
that is just the base install so it can be configured to do whatever
we
need at this point.
Second, Do we want to use getting the station on digital as a
demonstration
to how to get a station up on digital?
Third, Would anyone else be interested in operating multi-op for
this
contest? I think we could use the filters and triplexer to set up
additional stations at the museum that day. Of course we would have
to
talk to the museum.
This is now open for discussion.
HAVE FUN!
