Carlos,

The yagi is a commercial (Wilson Systems- no longer in business). such an antenna could be built with parts from DX Engineering, although purchasing a manufactured antenna would be more cost effective. Smaller, more lightweight antennas are available from Cushcraft (MFJ now) and others.

I suspect the comment about parts from Lowes would be in relation to a "homebrew Buddiepole" which is built in such a manner.
See https://sites.google.com/site/w3ffhomepage/homebrew-buddipole-plans This is Bud's W3FF homebrew homepage. The commercial version of the antenna is also available from www.buddipole.com

Roger on keeping the wife! Alternately you could get her interested in ham radio (That might be a real challenge, though)!

Subject: [SMCARA] Field day antenna

Did someone mention the yagi used in the field day can be easily built from parts from Loews? Is there a place I can get information on how to build one?

And that tower is wicked! That's the kind of setup I'm considering for my house since a permanent installation will not be wife approved. Any recommendation on how to get one or something similar (and no, getting a new wife is not an option :).

Carlos
