Hi all,
I have been operating QRP PSK-31/63 lately and wanted to give you the statistics of the fun that I have had in the last month or so. Here's the rundown on the shack, IC-7000 at 1-5W, G5RV at 30ft at the center.
The first numbers are the distance in miles, then the location, and unless otherwise noted, all contacts are made with 5W.
2618-Azores
1048-OK-already got card!
501-KY
569-GA
896-MO
1516-Puerto Rico
724-FL
2028-Venezuela
2292-Venezuela
1127-FL
1127-LA
4095-Germany-3W
1393-Dominican Rep.
513-GA
3689-Spain
1923-Mexico-2W
1127-MO
27186 total miles on 80 watts ranging from 2 to 5 watts, not including system losses.
339.8 average distance per watt
1599.2 average contact distance
shortest distance contacted, 501 miles equals 100.2 per watt
farthest contact 4095 miles at 3 watt, equals 1365 miles per watt
The reason that I did QRP was that I always run 50W normally and wanted to see just how little power I really need. Just shows you that you can have fun and not fry the other guy's receiver! Many times when I answered a CQ the op would say that I had a nice line and 100% copy.
Allen,
