[SMCARA] Suggestions

Dave, I did a lot of research for and economic multi-band antenna just a few
months ago, and what I came up with was the Optimized G5RV or ZS6BKW
antenna.
If you go to the bottom of this page you can see about it and how good the
price is for all you get. http://www.w8amz.com/W8AMZ_G5RV_Page.html

This PDF link will show you some good info on it and the G5RV and how they
compare. www.w5ddl.org/files/Zs6bkw_vs_G5rv_20100221b.pdf

I just moved into my new QTH and haven't gotten my antenna in the air yet,
but look to shortly. Everything I have read on this antenna points to very
good results.
The biggest thing this antenna has going for it is that it is resonant on
10, 12, 17, 20 & 40m bands and will tune on 6, 15, 30 & 80m. Using the
tuner just matches the impedance so not to burn up your rig. When you have
to tune, you are going to be losing some output power at the antenna.

Have fun and hope to hear you on the bands soon.

I just got my General ticket last Saturday and today I received a FT-857D I
plan to use as a base station for now.
I want to get on the air as soon as possible so I'd like to get some
suggestions to that end.
Off the bat I plan on ordering a tuner, power supply and some sort a fast
antenna setup.

Future plans are to have both a vertical and dipole. I am surrounded by
trees and scoped some out today.
Have several that are about 160' apart and can get a wire about 60' high
between them. Plan to string that up in the fall.

Suggestions appreciated for:

tuner - looking at a LDG AT-200 Pro-II
power supply - 30 amp?
antenna I can get up in a hurry and cover several bands

Budget? Yes, but don't want to buy equipment just to replace it soon
because it isn't quality or won't meet my needs.

73 and thanks in advance.
