Fun times! We had a DX-100 (non B) in our high school radio club. That and an old Halli SX-24 provided us kids with lots of fun.
I ran into one of the club members a couple of years ago at my 50th HS Reunion and we now keep in touch. I (ex K1AST)join Joe, W8JRK (ex K1MGR), at his Lansing MI Radio club trailer in the flea market at Dayton.
I have two DX-100s in my garage that I really need to get on the air! Should be a nice station combined with my SX-71! I also have a Collins 32V3 and a 75A4 (kind of a mismatch- A2 or A3 would be better), but they look cool and weigh a ton!

The little envelope containing my conditional ticket arrived just before school started in late August of '60. It was delivered to the wrong address a couple days before and I learned about that at a birthday party. The next morning I called and had the post office hold it for me and then walked the two miles or so to pick it up! I walked pretty fast on the way home! That was my first day on 40 meter phone with my DX-100B.

Instant gratification, that what it is!
You know how these stories begin, "Now, when I was a kid, we had to (walk to school)(read books)(share a telephone with everyone in the family, and it had a wire)(eat our vegetables) select your favorite peeve!
Well, when I was a kid (literally a kid- 16 years old in 1956), I waited nearly six weeks for that little envelope to come from the FCC in Gettysburg, PA telling me I was K1AST. Tough 6 weeks, did a lot of listening! Only cheated once into a dummy load and my Elmer a couple of miles away heard me on 6 meters!
As W3FF says, "Have Fun, Every Day"!

I just checked Kaylee's call and her General status is already in the FCC ULS database. Give you licenses a check.

Amateur Radio has something for everyone. Even if it is just peace of mind that no matter what happens your message will get through.
