The surprising part wasn't that I got him in the log - it was that I got
through the pile up on the first call.  That has never happened for me
during a pile up.

It doesn't surprise me that you worked him on the first try.  The solar
flare index is currently at 179 with a sunspot number of 234!  A and K
indexes are both at 2.  You could work the world on a QRP rig and a
wet-noodle - no tuner required (hi hi)...

JW8HGA Svalbard on 21.240 SSB (Split up 5 KHz).  Worked him (literally) on
the very first try!  I couldn't believe it!  A new DX and a new IOTA for me.
