At 8:00 tomorrow evening 20 meters will be going pretty long - if you were
trying for the West Coast it would be a good choice, but you'll probably
blow right over the mid-west. 40 meters would probably be a better choice.
A little later in the evening (say around 10-ish) 80M will be a good band
for the mid-west.

My son and I are planning to do some hamming tomorrow evening about 2000 .
He is located 40 miles west of Chicago, IL
I have selected 20 m 14.255 as a starting frequency for calling. I will be
using the Station at the Museum and my call/portable 3.
If someone has a better idea, I would appreciate some comments.
We will have a cell phone connection JIC.
