I was thinking about the same idea last week.  I know that there are several radios around that people have lent to new hams.  Allen and I would be willing to help new hams build an antenna to go with the loaner radio(s).

Any one else interested in loaning a radio to a new ham?

Any new hams out there that would like to get on HF and try it out, with some help and loaned equipment?

Since you aren't using my ICOM (except on Field Day), I was thinking of
providing the rig to the club as a loaner for the new hams.  
Whaddya think? 
It's a good rig and fun to use.  
New hams would get a kick out of useing it.
