Folks,
We had a repeater failure yesterday that seriously reduced the output
power. Tom, Dwayne and I went to the repeater site this afternoon and
corrected the problem. It is currently putting out about 85 watts of
power, the transmitter frequency which drifted off a little has been
reset, the receiver checked and the antenna system tested and verified
to be working perfectly. Today we also installed a new circulator on
the transmitter output cavity filter to help eliminate any potential
mixing product interference and recently installed a new bandpass filter
on the receiver side to notch out signals from some on-site transmitters
operated by our site owner. Dwayne also installed a 40 amp-hour
Uninterruptable Power System (UPS) on the repeater which should give us
about 2-3 hours of operation should the main power feed be interrupted.
Subsequent planned upgrades are being scheduled that will repackage the
repeater equipment into one rack, change the controller to add internal
audio equalization and replace the transmitter with a new exciter and
amplifier to increase the repeater output power significantly.
Please let us know if you have any subsequent issues with the repeater
performance in support of your normal ham radio operations.
Vr, Pete (WA3UMY)
