Good Evening All,
NEXT Thursday, SMCARA will have its monthly meeting at the Pax River Naval Air Station: http://paxmuseum.com/
We’ll be meeting in the large area by the simulators (instead of the conference room). So, if you get there early, make yourself comfortable in those seats.
We have a few things to discuss, the most important being the adoption of the updated Constitution and By-Laws. If you haven’t had the chance to review the document, please go to http://www.qsl.net/smcara/index.html and scroll down (on the home page to find both the current and the proposed versions) and be prepared to offer suggestions. We’ll put all proposed changes up to a vote and hopefully be able to put the whole-shebang up for adoption in fairly short order. If accepted, the terms of officers have been changed to begin and end in July (the thought being to coordinate this around Field Day).
I’ll be discussing the upcoming event at the Museum. On August 11th, we’ll be doing several things at the Museum. First, beginning at 10:00 AM, we’ll be doing a hands-on seminar to put together a home-brew balun. People participating will learn how to put a PL-259 connector onto RG-58 coax, do some basic wire-splicing and soldering, measure and tune a dipole, the magical properties of shrink tube, and will walk away from the the seminar with a ready to use balun and two sets of dipole wire-sets for the HF bands of their choice. There will be a small fee for this, and I’ll be asking the club to subsidize the cost of parts for this project. We’ll talk more about it at the meeting.
Continuing on, at Noon, we’ll be putting the club station on the air for the Maryland QSO Party - http://mdcqsoparty.w3vpr.org/ – we’ll continue working this contest until after the club closes and Walt kicks us out. We’ll be back on Sunday at Noon and continuing until the museum closes at 5:00 PM.
Eric heard will be having a test session at the museum – but I won’t steal his thunder – I’m sure an announcement will be forthcoming in the next few days.
So, you can see that this is going to be a great time for new and seasoned hams.
Hope to see you all there...
