Hi folks,

It is my pleasure to announce the results of the annual election of
officers for the St. Mary's County Amateur Radio Association (SMCARA),
held this past Thursday, 26 January 2012 during this month's meeting.

Tom Shelton (AB3IC) was elected to the position of President.

Dan Metcalf (KB3UUN) was elected to the position of Vice President.

Chuck Gantz (K3WJX) was elected to the position of Secretary.

Lee Jamison (N8HTG) was re-elected to the position of Treasurer.

Join me in welcoming these new leaders of your amateur radio club to
their new positions and please support them in ensuring that the SMCARA,
the oldest continuously operating ham club in southern Maryland
(established in 1956), continues to be an influential and enthusiastic
advocacy group for the ham radio hobby in the southern Maryland region.

As your outgoing President, I have been privileged to have had your full
support for these past dozen years or so. I am sure that Tom Clarke
(W4OKW), outgoing VP and Walt Rupp (W3GYT), outgoing Secretary will join
me in saying that we all have had a lot of fun planning projects,
building stuff, giving presentations and supporting the hobby these past
few years. Keep up the enthusiasm, friendship and don't forget to "have
fun in ham radio this month"!

Keep updated on all of our club events (license classes, ham exams,
dinners and operating activities) by regularly checking our club web
site at http://www.qsl.net/smcara on the Internet.

  Warm regards,

  Pete Butt (WA3UMY)
  Past President, SMCARA
