Hi everyone,
 
Here are the unofficial and unapproved minutes for October
and November-December of the St, Mary’s County Amateur Radio Association
(SMCARA)
 
October 23, 2011
Minutes,
On Thursday evening at our regularly scheduled meeting time
of 1930, the Club members and guests conducted a swap-fest/ ham-fest where we
sold, bartered, and gave away a mired of electronic gadgets and trappings
associated with the wide verity of activities called “Ham Radio” The PRNAM museum
conference area was cleared of chairs and tables from behind the T-45 cockpit
were rolled out and used to display the vast quantity of radio and electronic
gear brought by the attendees.
SMCARA via Pete Butt (WA3UMY) provided eats for the hungry
shoppers. (Thank you, Pete)
A good time trading, eating and selling was had by all.
 
This ham fest was also attended by two venders, LDG
Electronics, a successful local provider of antenna matching equipment and
JefaTech, also local business providing wireless technology solutions.
 
The SMCARA gratefully appreciates these two venders
attendance and hopes that they will plan on attending future SMCARA ham-fests.
 
A great clean up effort was accomplished be a few dedicated
hams and the conference area was back to “ship shape” by 2200. (Thank you very

November-December 2011 meeting minutes
 
Our November-December meeting was a combined get-to gather
held on December 10, 2011
in the PRNAM main exhibit hall. Again the conference area was cleared and we
set up tables and chairs for our Holiday celebration. We
found out that amateur radio operators eat very well! The SMCARA sponsored festive
table cloths, several delicious food items (Thank you Pete WA3UMY et. al. ) and  we dined on savory “Pot Luck” dishes.
 
All in all, SMCARA enjoyed a banner year with many
contributions from many dedicated individuals who sponsored technical classes,
exams, meeting presentations, repeater upgrades and other general support. We have
all grown and built stronger friendships.
 
AT our next regularly scheduled meeting on January, 26 2012, we will hold
election of officers for 2012 and hear a fine presentation by Pete Butt,
Wa3UMY.
