Most contests are pretty similar.  Once you've worked one, you can work another without adjusting your style too very much.

The CQ WPX Contests are very different in that instead of countries or zones, your goal is to work different prefixes.  So, if during the contest, you work me (AB3IC), my wife Tammy (K3TAM), and the irrepressible Boz (KG3BOZ), you would not only have points for the contact, but you would have 3 multipliers (AB3, K3, and KG3).  

The contests run from Friday evening (0000Z) to Sunday evening (2359Z) and are on the following dates:
RTTY: February 11 and 12,
SSB: March 24 and 25, and
CW: May 26 and 27.
