Hello All,
The Troop leadership is expecting a large turnout for the Radio Merit Badge
Workshop. I am prepared for 40 scouts so I could really use the help on the
other end of the QSOs. According to the requirements the QSOs should be
around 10 minutes (we're not timing) and should include a signal report and
the use of proper Q codes.
If anyone can attend the Workshop and can help with operations I would
appreciate that help as well. Please let me know ASAP if you can attend and
what equipment you might be able to bring even if it is only an 2m rig
because we still have 145.350, 147.420 and 146.520 that we can use. Space
for antennas is limited but I think we have enough room for a couple of
dipoles in the trees.
Saturday's Boy Scout Radio Merit Badge Workshop should flow as follows:
07:00 Arrive at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building
on Old Rolling Road behind the K-Mart in California,MD. and begin setup of
the needed antennas and radios.
08:00 - 10:30 Class room activies (completing

10:30 - 12:00 QSO(s)
12:00 Tear down and departure
Band Plan:
Weather permitting I will have Kaylee and Morgan operating on the repeaters
using their HTs.
Kaylee (KB3WFA) on 147.195
Morgan (KB3WFM) on 146.640
As a backup I will take my J-pole down from the roof and attach to PVC pole
and guy it somewhere outside the building and run feedline indoors to
attach to my
FT-8800R and let the girls alternate control of the radio on the 145.350
repeater.
I (KB3UUN) will have my FT-897D on battery attached to a buddipole running
on 40m (7.283MHz) using (7.181Mhz) as backup.
Again thanks in advance for your support it is already looking to be a
recruiting ground for the Technician class. Additional information to
follow about the class.
