Just an update for those that use the 146.640 (-, 146.2) repeater in
Lexington Park. During some recent band openings, there has been some noise
(interference) on the receive side of the repeater. It sounds like a high
pitched squeal just in the background. At this time, we've completed some
tests but have not come to any definitive conclusions.
It mostly happens in the morning or early am before sunrise. This sort of
suggests that it may be some type of band opening issue. We've hear the
interference rise and fall over a period of minutes, so we do not think it's
something local.
If any one notices the interference and can take a look at the VHF
propagation map for the US to see if we have ducting in MD, that would be a
great help. Here is the link http://aprs.mountainlake.k12.mn.us/ . Just move
to the MD area and see if there are dark orange or red outlined for our
area. Then post the time of the interference and map condition observed to
this reflector. It will greatly help the tracking of the interference issues
with the .64 repeater.
As many of you know, we recently replaced the receiver with a highly
sensitive unit last month, so it's more susceptible to low levels of
interference. Any reports would be most appreciative.
Dwayne, Tom, and Pete.
