Folks;
No takers at our SMCARA mini-hamfest so I've reduced the price. Please
note that the 32' boom breaks down into ~8' lengths & the elements (no
traps, are "linear-loaded") ~7' longest & most ~6' - easily transported in a
truck bed or tied to a roof luggage rack.
This 20-15-10 meter beam is now available for $250 (at this price, might be
worthwhile to buy & and store it until .....). It is off the tower & is
still assembled so a new owner can mark elements for easy reassembly;
although it is adjusted to favor the CW /RTTY portions of each band, it was
used almost 100% on phone w/o any VSWR problems (had a ball these last few
days adding new 10 m. DX entities to my log until it was removed).
Specs:
Boom length: 32'
Turning radius: 21/6"
Element length: 25'8" max
Wind Area: ~ 9 sq. ft.
Wind Survival: 100 mph
Weight: 68 lbs. -KLM lists suitable rotors: TR-44, Ham M type, HD-73
Alliance, KR-400, etc.
Gain (mfg. claims):
20 m.: 8.5 - 9 dBd 5 elements
15 m.: 9 - 9.5 dBd 5 elements
10 m. : 11 - 11.3 dBd 6 elements
50 ohm unbalanced
Power rating;\: 4 KW PEP
I've developed a neat way to remove the beam myself (before my hip
replacement) from a crank down, tilt-over tower - the problem was that the
elements prevent the tower from being tilted over close enough to ground
level so I could get a ladder up to remove the beam.
Solution is: by cranking the tower down, climbing to the mast & loosening
the boom U-Bolt nuts, I rotated the boom so the antenna elements went almost
vertical & in line w/ the mast - once the tower is tilted over past the
horizontal, the antenna is easily reached from ground level and removed from
the mast.
